The course “Italian Cuisine” is a cultural journey dedicated to exploring Italy’s gastronomic tradition, considered one of the most celebrated and influential in the world. Through a clear and engaging approach, students will learn about the history of Italian cuisine, its regional origins, and the significance of the typical ingredients that characterize the Mediterranean diet.
Italian cuisine is not merely a collection of recipes: it embodies culture, identity, history, and conviviality. Each Italian region offers distinct flavors, techniques, and products that reflect its territory, climate, and local traditions. During the course, students will analyze the most representative dishes, the daily eating habits of Italians, and the differences between Northern, Central, Southern Italy, and the islands.
The course also provides an introduction to the main principles of authentic Italian cooking, clarifying common myths and stereotypes abroad. Fundamental aspects such as the structure of a traditional Italian meal, coffee culture, the importance of bread and pasta, and the role of wine will also be explored.
